A nail-biter so tense I often had to look away and catch my breath.

We’re now three books into (I’m assuming) four of this apocalyptic adventure where all the adults are dead (bar one or two) and the children are still trying to figure out how to survive and build a society together.

In this volume, the kids are facing the two enemies – nature (from animals to the freezing cold) and adult cult leader David.

For me it loses a star simply due to my own personal weakness – the child characters suffered so much during this book that at times I felt it was almost too much, I needed a bit more relief in between the horrors. But otherwise an excellent read!
