I enjoyed the final entry in this series – it was so nice to get to Spring and a bit of (no spoilers) hope!

Please note – don’t read this book as a standalone, go back to the beginning and start with book 1, okay? But as a recap, there’s been a pandemic of sorts, all the adults (in the UK at least) are dead bar one, who is rather evil and trying to hold some kind of cult control over as many children as possible, and nature is reclaiming the earth. And killing quite a few people along the way.

As Winter begins to fade, we learn how Reuben and Yellow are doing, and get some intriguing (and sometimes disturbing) answers about cult leader David’s fate. The Londoners turn up – and we find out what they make of our slightly-sorry-for-themselves characters. Are they genuinely trying to help? Do they know the best way forward for survival?

The story is still incredibly tense and suspenseful and in some ways I kept turning the pages just to get to the end so I could breathe again! But it’s well worth the journey. An enjoyable (if tense) YA take on a post-apocalypse.
